After agreement that The Bagkok Contemporary Art Centre should be located at Pathumwan junction, the project was stopped in 2001 when Samak Sundaravejbecame new governor because he wanted to change the project to become a commercial retail space and use the private investors. In 2004, Apirak Kosayodhin became the Bangkok governor. The project was presented again and the governor agreed to the original project that the Art Centre should be designed following the original. After that, the results about art and culture were collected and the mission started with vision and objective of Art Centre also examining the laws. So on 19 August 2005 the “Declaration of Cooperation in the Fields of Art and Culture by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Allied Organizations in the Fields of Art and Culture” was signed at Benjasiri Park.
