โรงเรียนนครนายกวิทยาคม ตั้งอยู่ที่ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครนายก เป็นโรงเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษา สังกัดเขตพื้นที่การศึกษานครนายก สำนักคณะกรรมการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน กระทรวงศึกษาธิการ เป็นโรงเรียนที่มีกำเนิดจากการรวมโรงเรียนสองโรงเรียนเข้าด้วยกัน เมื่อ 5 สิงหาคม พุทธศักราช 2514 คือ โรงเรียนนาครส่ำสงเคราะห์(โรงเรียนชาย) และโรงเรียนศรีนครนายก(โรงเรียนหญิง) และเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น โรงเรียนนครนายกวิทยาคม
ปีพุทธศักราช 2457 พระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ กรมขุนมธุรพงศ์ศิริพัฒน์ สมุหเทศาภิบาลมณฑลนี ทรงเห็นว่า มีนักเรียนเพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ มีอาคารไม่พอรับกับจำนวนนักเรียน แบบอาคารไม่ถูกต้อง ตามแบบของกระทรวงธรรมการในสมัยนั้น จึงได้บอกบุญเรี่ยไรเงินจากพ่อค้า ประชาชน และข้าราชการ เพื่อสร้างโรงเรียนประจำจังหวัดเป็นหลังแรก

ปี พ.ศ. 2459 หม่อมเจ้าธำรงศิริ สมุหเทศาภิบาลประจำมณฑล ได้สั่งให้พระยาบรรหารวรอรรถ ทำสัญญาก่อสร้างโรงเรียนขึ้น ณ บริเวณฝั่งขวาของแม่น้ำนครนายก ใกล้ที่ทำการศาลากลางจังหวัด ใช้ค่าก่อสร้างประมาณ 13,000 บาท เปิดสอนนักเรียนตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2460 สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอพระยาภานุพันธุ์วงศ์วรเดช ผู้รักษาราชการแผ่นดินสมัยนั้น ได้พระราชทาน นามโรงเรียนใหม่ว่า "นาครสำสงเคราะห์"

สำหรับโรงเรียนศรีนครนายก นับเป็นโรงเรียนสตรีแห่งแรกของจังหวัดนครนายก เดิมเป็นโรงเรียนฝึกหัด ครูมีการสอนทอผ้า ต่อมาเปลี่ยนเป็นสอนวิชาสามัญ คือสอนชั้น ป.1 - ป.4 หากผู้ใดต้องการเรียนต่อสูงขึ้น ก็เข้าต่อที่โรงเรียนนาครสำสงเคราะห์ ส่วนสถานที่โรงเรียนศรีนครเดิมนั้นเป็นกรมทหาร ต่อมากรมทหารย้าย ไปอยู่จังหวัดปราจีนบุรี จึงยกสถานที่ซึ่งมีเนื้อที่ 25 ไร่ ให้เป็นโรงเรียนสตรีโดยแบ่งเนื้อที่เป็น 2 ส่วน คือเป็นของโรงเรียนการช่างนครนายก 12 ไร่ และเป็นโรงเรียนสตรีประจำจังหวัด 13 ไร่

วันที่ 5 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2514 กรมสามัญศึกษาได้ประกาศรวมโรงเรียนศรีนครนายก และโรงเรียนนาคร สำสงเคราะห์เข้าด้วยกัน ใช้ชื่อใหม่ว่า "โรงเรียนนครนายกวิทยาคม" มีพื้นที่ 39 ไร่ 1 งาน 63 ตารางวา เปิดทำการสอนตั้งแต่ ม.1-ม.6 จนถึงปัจจุบัน
